asb report september 2019
september 5th
rally commissioner
position assessment
This past month, I have been working with Link Crew for the Freshman orientation and for Back to School Night. Laila and I have been working very closely with Natalie to get the Annual Black Light Rally up and going. In the process, Natalie and I wrote a script and gave it to Laila to look over and change what needed to be fixed. I am working with the amazing Niki Nyguyen with announcements and we have been doing a pretty good job thus far. The next focus for the upcoming month is the Homecoming Night Rally and Kyoto Cultural Exchange Rally which were both very successful with the student body last year.
standing committee
I am in the Sports Relations committee with Nico and Malery and we’ve talked about the Sports Rally and making sure that all of the sports were being recognized.
special committee
I was a part of the Black Light Rally committee and I helped set up and went over the rally with Laila that way we didn’t make any mistakes. I was also part of the support team for the BBQ with the whole class and it is pretty tough to serve 1,000+ students in one sitting. Next focus is for Laila and I to talk with Ana and Molly about the Cultural Exchange Rally.
concern
The only concern I have is that the freshman didn’t really know what to do for the class cheers so they started to scream. It’s their first rally and they didn’t really know better but for future reference, I don’t want to hear that again because it would have broken the glass from my glasses.
positive comment
Natalie did a spectacular job managing the rally this year and doing it in such a huge way. She got the class together to rehearse the beginning with the senior class and worked very closely with me to make sure the script was good. She has a lot on her plate this year as she is working as a hostess at Fina so it’s very impressive to see Natalie put her all into this. Also, Laila did an amazing job for her first rally of the year. She was very nervous to do so but she did not fail and kept going like the happy little bubbly person she is.
change
At the rally, People were sticking the tape on the ground and made us all pick it up which is disrespectful so next year, we need to come up with a more safe approach. At the dance, people were chucking full water bottles and it hit people so I’m thinking we should either make students pay for water and not let them have a free one, or just not have them overall since there is a water fountain outside of the MUB.
impact
As of right now, I am trying my best to manage my time with Cross Country and my job at McDonalds’ and making sure it does not interfere with my schoolwork. I am working closely with Laila making sure that we don’t mess up for make the rallies dull. Homecoming is right around the corner and I’m excited and I am not prepared for the amount of pressure that is going to be put on me. It’s going to be a long road to Graduation and there’s going to be a lot of failures ahead of me but I have to respect the unexpected.
ASb report - October 2019
October 24th
Rally Commissioner
POSITION ASSESSMENT
Throughout the month of September, I have been working with Niki on announcements and from what I heard, a lot of people liked when I was talking on the intercom. During October, Laila and I have been working on the Night Rally which ended up being a big success as a lot of students showed up to support their classes. We also worked with the homecoming court candidates with the speech and lip sync rally which the student body also really liked. I also got to announce during the homecoming game which was really fun and many people liked me announcing. It seems that there’s a trend where people like to hear my voice. I also had the honor to MC the Kyoto Cultural Exchange Rally which was really fun to put on. Right now, I am focusing on the Tri-Tip Drive Thru as it is happening today and I am bagging the cookies. Later this month, I will be working on the Dude be Nice rally if I end up being the MC for the rally and we will eventually start on the Holiday Night Rally that will happen in December.
STANDING COMMITTEE
I am in the Sports Relations committee with Nico and Malery. We haven’t talked about anything since the Black Light Rally. We will start the conversation back up again during the Winterfest season.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE
I was a part of the Beautiful Movement Committee. I filmed my friend Riley and she was so happy when I said that she was beautiful. I was also a part of the Kyoto Committee as I was working on the Kyoto Cultural Rally. We worked closely with Molly and Ana to make sure the script was on point with what Kyoto wanted to accomplish.
CONCERNS
One concern that I have is for the Night Rally, the Junior Class was being very negative towards the Seniors and their lip sync while the Seniors were being nice about it. They didn’t win and neither did the seniors. But, negativity and poor sportsmanship should have no place in a night rally. It’s not like everyone is going to die over a spot to perform at a rally.
POSITIVE COMMENTS
The Freshman class is doing great so far in their first year in the program. I wasn’t at the Halloween dance but I heard it was pretty successful. They also did a great job during Homecoming.
CHANGES
In the future Night Rally, we should have a more explicit set of guidelines, that way each class knows what they can and what they can’t do. That was the reason why the senior class got second place in the lip sync.
MY IMPACT
The past two months have been crazy. Starting a new job, going into a crazy homecoming, and earning a new PR in Cross Country. I still have a lot on my plate but it is now to the point where I can manage all three of these things at once. Cross country is almost over so it will give me more time to work and of course work on the rallies. Homecoming was a huge success and I’m glad a got to end my last homecoming with a bang. Going into the Thanksgiving/Holiday/Winterfest season, there are going to be a lot of demand and stress coming my way and I will make a lot of mistakes but I know I will do better the next time.

asb report - november/december 2019
december 16th, 2019
rally commissioner
POSITION ASSESSMENT
In the month of November, We had the Dude be Nice rally and I gave as card to LJ and was involved in the Beautiful Movement Video where I told a friend that she is beautiful. In December, we worked on the Yearbook Posters for the yearbook rally and I was awarded “Most Likely to Become a Famous Rapper”. Earlier last week, my group wrapped up doors and we did a pretty good job despite it being cold and me being sick and Payton observed us. Also, last week, we had our Holiday Night Rally. It did not go with my all of my plans but a lot of people showed up and loved it and that’s all that really matters. I was very happy when I finally got people to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the big screen. The excitement of the student body was awesome. I had a great time despite being sick and in a bad mood that I wasn’t notified about the Korean Culture Club’s absence.
STANDING COMMITTEE
I am in the Sports Relations committee with Nico and Malery. We are going to talk once Winterfest season pops up and we will most likely feature all of the winter sports in the reveal rally.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE
I was in the Beautiful Movement Committee and helped with the video for the Dude Be Nice Rally. The video came out really good. Also, I helped Gianna with the poster for the “Most Likely to Become a Famous Rapper” Poster which was the superlative I ended up getting.
CONCERNS
At the Holiday Night Rally, some people were talking while I was trying to speak and it was getting me off track. To compromise, I should tell people to please not talk when I am speaking, it’s very distracting. Especially when I need to say something important.
POSITIVE COMMENTS
The football team had an amazing season. They played a very good game on Saturday night. I’m so proud to be a part of something so amazing and the fact Ripon has never done this before is exciting.
CHANGES
In future rallies, we need to make sure we communicate clearly. Niki was upset when I asked her why the KCC didn’t show up and she said that I was given a text message and Morty was notified but I didn’t get a text message nor was I notified by Morty. If someone sends me a message, they need to ask me in person if I got the message before the event to confirm.
MY IMPACT
It has been a stressful and short couple of months. I ran through trial and error while planning the Holiday Night Rally and had to meet deadlines while working five hour shifts on a Wednesday night. I made a good amount of money last week and I’m very happy about that. The Holiday Night Rally was a success with the student body and I’m not sure how much rallies I have left this year but no matter the outcome, I need to be mindful of the ‘self’.

ASB Report - february 13th 2020
POSITION ASSESSMENT
In January, Laila and I held the winterfest rally. It was a good crowd and everybody was all hyped up so it was good. All of the candidates were very deserving of being on the winterfest court. At the talent show, I ran the cash box with Kate which was pretty stressful when the first group of people came in but it slowed down and I was able to just vibe for a few minutes before the next group came in. In February, I gave my public speech about overcoming what you cannot control which went really well but the maturity wasn’t there. Aiko and I made valentine hearts which was a nice process. Yesterday, I gave my elder presentation on perseverance and everyone in the class seemed to like it. Right now, I’m focusing on my elder project community service and if Naomi and Emma need help with the Coin Wars Rally, we will help them.
STANDING COMMITTEE
I am in the Sports Relations committee with Nico and Malery. We are going to talk regarding spring sports towards the end of the year.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE
Laila and I helped Ana with the winterfest rally. I helped watch the cash box during the talent show with Kate, and Aiko and I made valentine hearts
CONCERNS
During rallies, people need to know when the rally is actually over because when someone says “this is the end of the rally”, everyone just bolts out the door. So now, they need to say “have a nice lunch” after they say what they need to say. So the timing is right.
POSITIVE COMMENT
David Wang has to be one of the most amazing people I have ever met, that man really did an entire speech without even reading anything and made good eye contact. It was like I was watching an actual TED Talk.
CHANGES
There should be more rallies that the rally commissioners are in charge of. Most of the rallies take place in the first semester and then there is only one in the second and the rest of the rallies are all club orientated. I feel as if it has been very low key lately and we need it back to the Austin and Donny standards.
MY IMPACT
It has been a rough couple of months trying to get more hours for work and working on the elder project, it really has hit me that high school is ending soon. It feels like yesterday I walked into the gym excited for my freshman year of high school. It’s crazy to even think I’m here right now as a senior about to graduate. Gianna will be taking my place next year and I know she’ll do great as I’ve seen her grow in the past year. There is a lot of stress to come but I need to be “mindful of the self”.
